A-Mark Precious Metals Review

Have you thought about how easy it could be to lose your life savings thanks to today’s treacherous economy? If so, you’ll be glad to know that by investing in a gold IRA you can not only protect everything you have worked so hard for but also see the net worth of your assets grow in many cases.

In this A-Mark Precious metals review we will go over this company and see what they’re all about, and whether or not you should be using them as a part of your investment strategy.

Services and Products

A-Mark Precious Metals is a precious metals trading company that provides a wide variety of services. In addition to being able to buy, sell, and trade gold, silver, platinum, and palladium you they also provide financing, hedging, leasing, consignment, and other financial services.

As for IRA services A-Mark Precious Metals is not an official IRA custodian. However, they will refer you to a company known as TDS for storage purposes.

It should also be noted that since A-Mark Precious Metals isn’t a true IRA custodian you have to really know what you’re buying when you do business with them as only certain types of metals are IRS approved for your IRA.

Overall A-Mark Precious Metals seems to have just about everything a precious metals trading company should have though nothing in particular really stands out about them. The selection of products they have available as shown on their website seems to be somewhat small compared to other precious metals brokers though.

Customer Feedback

In this section of our A-Mark Precious Metals review we’ll go over exactly what people are saying about this company and their performance. There wasn’t a lot of feedback in this case but I did manage to dig up two reviews.

This individual apparently has a problem with A-Mark Precious Metal’s minimum order requirements:

“A-Mark is a very exclusive dealer with very high trading minimums.  The last I checked the minimum trade, per trade, for gold was 100 ounces (about $175,000 per trade!).  The minimum for sliver was something equally high.  You need to be in Mitt Romney’s tax bracket to deal with A Mark! (Oh Wait, his tax bracket is low, I meant you gotta be loaded like Mitt……)

The company is very secretive and does not publish their pricing online, but the last time I priced them they were more expensive to deal with than either Gainsvillecoins.com or Apmex.com.  So what do you gain by trading with them?  I don’t know!” – Ethan Z. from Yelp.com

However, this individual offered a rebuttal to the above review:

“Seeing another review of this company made me look closer at them. Their web site shows prices. They clearly state they are not a retail seller and offer to make recommendations. So it seems someone at A Mark listened to the earlier review.” – Richard M. from Yelp.com

NOTE: As of this writing A-Mark Precious Metals does have market pricing for various precious metal products on their website. However what you are charged may be different. Here is a quote from their FAQ:

Prices quoted over the phone are the prevailing prices at that moment. The prices shown on our Web site may be delayed.”

Overall there weren’t many scores for A-Mark but this is what I found:

3.5/5 – Yelp

Final Verdict

A-Mark seems to be a fairly decent precious metals dealer but they seem to hold back certain info unless you sign up with them and actually get on the phone with a representative. Personally I prefer a bit more transparency.

Another thing that bugs me is their somewhat limited selection of items and the fact that they don’t state whether or not they are IRS approved. If you’re looking to add precious metals to your IRA this could be a problem.

I’m going to conclude this A-Mark Precious Metals review with a final score:

4/10 – as a precious metals dealer

Really there just doesn’t seem to be anything special about the company and their lack of info on IRS approved metals is troublesome.

If you’re looking for a gold IRA company that can help you purchase IRS approved metals my highest recommendation would have to be Regal Assets.
